CATL attaches great importance to R&D, and it has set up R&D centers in Ningde, Liyang, Shanghai, Xiamen and Munich. In the first half of 2021, CATL invested about 2.8 billion yuan (433.43 million U.S. dollars) in R&D, up 115% YoY, bringing the company\'s total R&D investment to 14 billion yuan (2.17 billion U.S. dollars). There are 7,878 CATL staff members engaged in R&D, with 1,524 of them holding master\'s degrees and 134 holding Ph.D. degrees.
